A New (to me) Construction!
Posted by Marti Lawrence on
Summer is here with it's usual high heat in Virginia! My knitting changes like the seasons, from 100% animal fiber to the coolness of linens and cottons. I decided that this summer, I would try to challenge myself by trying new construction techniques. And, to finally try Sea Isle Cotton (50% organic pima cotton/50% fine merino) yarn that we have carried for awhile that I've really wanted to knit.
The pattern I chose is the Thea Top by Susanne Müller (available in-store or on Ravelry). I am enjoying learning the technique of casting on the back, knitting a portion, then knitting the shoulders , increasing for the armholes as we go. As the picture shows, I have cast on stitches for joining the two halves of the front. As soon as I finish the increases, I will then be able to join the two halves in the round,
The Sea Isle Cotton is absolutely wonderful to knit, It's very soft and has a lovely drape to it. It is available in 17 colors.
Stay tuned for the big finish!
