The Himma Top was designed to for knitters who want to try color work. The floats are short and there are many single color rounds. It is made with set-in sleeves and European shoulder which gives a tailored look. The construction is seamless with top down construction. The instructions are for either a short sleeve or long sleeve version. In addition to class instruction the pattern comes with excellent video tutorials. It is recommend for the intermediate knitter.

4 - Two hour long classes

Supplies:

Sport Weight Yarn

Main color 690-1210 yds. (for long sleeve allow an additional 235 yds.)

Contrast color 325-580 yds. (for long sleeve allow an additional 210 yds.)

Needles: 3.25 mm (US 3) 24-40 inch circular and Double Points or shorties for small circumference

2.75 mm (US 1) or 1-2 needle size smaller than gauge needle 24-40 inch circular and Double Points or shorties for small circumference

Notions - stitch markers, locking markers, row counter, tape measure, stitch holder or waste yarn, tapestry needle.

The designer had graciously offered a discount for the pattern and you will receive a code for the discount via email upon registering for the class.  The code will be emailed in the Homework and Supplies List document sent for registering for the class.  The code will be viable until September 27th, 2026.

Skills Required:

Experience reading patterns, working in the round, increases, decreases, making a gauge swatch, and picking up stitches.

Skills Learned: 

I-cord bind off, stranded color work, backwards loop cast-on, and set in sleeves.

Homework:

Purchase pattern and yarn and make a gauge swatch with 3.25 mm (US 3) or appropriately sized needles to obtain the gauge: 24 sts. & 32 rows = 10 cm / 4 in. Stockinette stitch in the round.

Class Size: 5 students maximum, 2 students minimum.  If the 2-student minimum is not met, Needles in the Haymarket can either refund the class or move the student to a class scheduled at a later date.
