First Cables - Harvest Hug Hat by Kyle Kunnecke
You've learned the basics, so now it's time to try cables! In this class the student will learn to knit a hat with the Antler cable pattern, how to use stitch markers, a cable needle, pattern and chart reading.

2 - Two hour long sessions
Supplies:
- US 7 - 16 inch circular needle
- US 8 - 16 inch circular needle
- Stitch markers
- Cable needle
- US 8 double point needles
- A yarn sewing needle.
- Students are required to purchase the pattern either in store or on Ravelry (click here to visit the Harvest Hug Hat Ravelry page).
- 183 yards of worsted weight yarn (some recommendations below)
- HiKoo Simplinatural
- Plymouth Galway
- Universal Deluxe Worsted Tweed
- Any worsted weight yarn with good stitch definition and the feeling you'd like in a hat will suit.
Skills Required:
Long tail cast on, and joining and knitting in the round.
Skills Learned:
Knit a cable pattern, use stitch markers, pattern and chart reading.
Homework: Before the first class, purchase your pattern, cast on, and knit the 4 inches of ribbing.
Class Size: 5 students maximum, 2 students minimum. If the 2 student minimum is not met, Needles in the Haymarket can either refund the class or move the student to a class scheduled at a later date.
