Shimmer & Shine with Beads & Fancy Yarns

Make your knitted pieces shine! This hands-on workshop shows you how to add sparkle and style with beads, and sequined and textured yarns. Whether you want a hint of glitz or full-on glam, you’ll learn how to embellish your knits with elegance and confidence.

Instructor: Ruth Santos

1 meeting – 3 hours long

Supplies:

Yarn - At least 20g of fingering weight yarn.  

A small amount of complimentary sequined or novelty yarn.  Some suggestions: Fiesta (click here to view in our online store), Trendsetter Yarn Paillettes (click here to view in our online store), Skacel Vegas Color, Adriafil Rafia. 

6/0 size beads – 1 tube. Color to compliment your yarn.  (Click here to visit Michael's online store to see appropriate beads available for purchase in their online store.)

Needles to match the gauge of yarn, and additional set two sizes larger.

Beadle or beading needle or small gauge crochet hook 0.8mm or similar.

Skills Required:  Basic knitting skills are required, know how to knit and purl.

Skills Learned:  Students will learn how to add beads to their knitting and how to compliment knitting with other novelty yarns.

Homework: Cast on one swatch of 40 stitches and knit 3 rows.

Class Size: 10 students maximum, 3 students minimum.  If the 3 student minimum is not met, Needles in the Haymarket can either refund the class or move the student to a class scheduled at a later date.
