Supplies:
Two contrasting colors of worsted weight yarn, approximately 25 g each, at least (*May use stash or leftovers*).
Either US 7 (4.5 mm) or US 8 (5.0 mm) circular needle, 24" (or appropriate length for knitting flat fabric).
2 stitch markers (optional, but highly recommended).
Skills Required:
MUST be able to cast on, knit, purl, yarn over, and join in new yarn (or a second color).
It is RECOMMENDED that students already have familiarity with knitting two-color brioche in the round or have taken Needles in the Haymarket's Introduction to 2 Color Brioche Knit in the Round class.
Skills Learned:
Brioche knit (BRK), brioche purl (BRP), knitting two-color brioche as a flat worked project, and knitting two-color garter stitch as a stabilizing stitch for two-color brioche.
Homework:
Find your two colors of worsted weight yarn. Identify which one you would like to be your main color (Color A) and your contrast color (Color B) (Color A will be the dominant color on the right-side the two-color brioche, Color B will be the dominant color on the wrong-side of the two-color brioche and the color the forms the top and bottom border.
Using your favorite stretchy cast on, cast on 20 stitches. In garter stitch, knit 2 rows in Color B. Bring this to class.
Class Size: 5 students maximum, 2 students minimum. If the 2 student minimum is not met, Needles in the Haymarket can either refund the class or move the student to a class scheduled at a later date.
