Fresh Berry Tee: An Introduction to Top-down Sweater Knitting
This is a beautiful light weight top for spring, summer and fall. It is one piece top-down construction. The top is knitted similar to most top-down sweater patterns. The model was knitted in self-striping Cotton Supreme Waves cotton yarn. It is DK weight yarn.

Three 2-hour sessions
Supplies: Fresh Berries pattern (A free pattern on Universal Yarn's website, via Ravelry or click here)
Needles: US 7/4.5mm 16" and 24-32"circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge
US 6/4mm 16in. circular, US 6/4mm 24in. circular, 16 in. circular and a set of double points
590 - 1130 yards of DK weight yarn or 3-5 skeins of Cotton Supreme Waves yarn (See pattern for the correct amount for your size)
Notions: Stitch markers, Tapestry Needle
Skills Required: Students should know how to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, knit in the round, and make a gauge swatch.
Skills Learned: In class you will learn to read and follow a pattern, the basic top-down sweater/top construction. M1R and M1L increases, work on double pointed needles, pick up stitches.
Homework: Download pattern, purchase yarn, and needles. If you need help getting the pattern, the shop can help you in person. Make a gauge swatch using the needles and yarn you plan to use for your project, then wash and block it, and bring it to the first class. The gauge for this project is 20 sts x 26 rows on your larger needle.
Class Size: 5 students maximum, 2 students minimum. If the 2 student minimum is not met, Needles in the Haymarket can either refund the class or move the student to a class scheduled at a later date.
