In this class we will learn how to incorporate all those leftovers or mini-skeins into a cohesive colorful cowl using the helix way of knitting. This cowl is a great way of using every last scrap of a favorite yarn, producing a one of a kind enviable project starting with a provisional cast on, knitting a tube, then kitchenering the ends together. Two sessions for this cowl, one month apart. The first for getting started with the technique and the second to kitchener the tube together. Instructor: Laura Call Skills Required: Ability to knit on circular needles, ability to crochet a chain stitch, and knowledge of the Kitchener stitch. Skills Learned: Incorporating more than one color per round and helical knitting. *Homework: Please dig out multiple leftovers/mini-skeins of similar weight.* 2 - 2 hour sessions: Monday 9/26 and Monday 10/24 (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) Supplies: One full skein of neutral color, multiple leftovers and/or mini-skeins, and size US 6 (for fingering weight yarn) 16” circular needle. Class size: 8 students maximum, 2 students minimum. If the 2 student minimum is not met, Needles in the Haymarket can either refund the class or move the student to a class scheduled at a later date. This class is "mask optional".
