Be the Boss of Your Spinning (Saturday, October 21st 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.)
As spinners we often let the fiber tell us what it wants to be. But sometimes, we want to be in charge. In this class, you will learn how to be the boss of your spinning techniques and your wheel to make the yarn you want to make. You will learn how to make the most of your default yarn, spin more consistent yarn, plan the yarn you want to make, make the most of your wheel’s whorls, and select the best plying techniques for your planned yarn.
Instructor: Susan Lopez
Skills Required: Be able to draft and spin fiber into a continuous thread on a wheel.
Skills Learned: Identify how you make your default yarn – the yarn you make when you don’t think about it -- to make the most of it, practice techniques to be as consistent as you want to be, recognize how twist angle, grist, and yarn weight/diameter play together to make the yarn you desire, become friends with your spinning wheel’s whorls, and select the best plying techniques for the yarn you want to make.
One 3-hour session: Saturday, Octobert 21st 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
