Let's knit socks from the toe up using magic loop! Whether you've never knit socks before or have knitted socks cuff-down for a long time, come and try something new! Instructor: Linda Shields Three 3-hour sessions: Tuesdays January 3rd, 10th, and 17th (1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.) Supplies: 100g of fingering weight sock yarn; either 100g of 1 color or 60g of a main color and 40g of a contrasting color. 32" US size 1 (2.25 mm) circular needle or whatever size you need to get a gauge of 8sts/1" in stockinette stitch in the round. If you would like to switch to another method of knitting in the round after the cast on, bring your other needles (i.e. double pointed needles or 9" circular needle). The cast on and first few rounds must be done magic loop; then you can switch if you like. Also bring tapestry needles, stitch markers, and any other knitting notions you like. Skills Required: Knit, purl, ssk, k2tog, p2tog, bind off, and most importantly must know how to use the magic loop method of working in the round; we will not be teaching this method in class. Skills to be learned: Turkish cast-on, kf&b increase, Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off and more! Class Size: 5 students maximum, 2 students minimum. If the 2 student minimum is not met, Needles in the Haymarket can either refund the class or move the student to a class scheduled at a later date. This class is "mask optional".
