Learn to knit fingerless mitts in worsted weight yarn. Instructor: Linda Shields Three 2-hour sessions: Tuesdays December 6th, 13th, and 20th (1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.) Supplies: US size 4 double-pointed needles or circular needle appropriate for magic loop (or needle size to obtain a gauge of 5.5 sts per inch) tapestry needle 1-color mitts: 100 g of worsted weight yarn. 2-color mitts: 60 g of worsted weight yarn in main color, 40 g of worsted weight yarn in contrasting color. If you would like to make your fingerless mitts using scraps of sock yarn from your stash, bring in the equivalent of 100 g and you will hold it double. Skills Required: Long tail cast-on, knit, purl, working in-the-round, binding off. Skills Learned: Twisted German cast-on, make one right/make one left, picking up stitches, creating a gusset. Class Size: 6 students maximum, 2 students minimum. If the 2 student minimum is not met, Needles in the Haymarket can either refund the class or move the student to a class scheduled at a later date.
